Overview: This position models exemplary customer service and leadership skills in guiding the Spa staff and guest experiences of Spa at The Essex, while meeting financial expectations of the Resort.
Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Model gregarious, warm and welcoming behavior for all that visit Spa at The Essex.
- Hire, train, motivate and manage reception, massage, esthetician, spa, retail and support staffs, with key focus on morale and job retention.
- Develop and maintain employee recognition programs
- Maximize the sales of spa retail products
- Maximize revenues of the Spa to include treatments, memberships, daily usage fees, etc…
- Create and develop marketing initiatives working closely with the resort marketing department for successful execution. Participate actively in sales and marketing initiatives as needed.
- Implement standard operating procedures and policies and hold staff accountable
- Creatively and effectively resolve any possible guest issues with quick resolution
- Monitor daily sales activities, prepare monthly financial variances reports, present financial analysis at monthly Board of Director meetings and develop annual budgets.
- Ensure spa treatment quality controls, including service, and product usage
- Ensure cleanliness standards are met at all times
- Manage purchase orders for professional treatment, and operational supplies, ensuring that product is readily available and pars are maintained.
- Develop merchandising plans and purchasing retail products or coordinate with the retail buyer on purchase orders for boutique items
- Maintain proper inventory levels for all professional and retail products
- Prepare payroll, provide ongoing staff motivation, team development and high standards of service, and coordinate ongoing educational training programs
- Keep abreast of industry trends as well as competitive set standards. Interact with the press and plan special media, member and resort events
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years in a Resort Spa or large Day-Spa setting with full management oversight.
- Massage or aesthetic care proficiency is a plus
PERSONAL SKILLS
- Possess strong leadership abilities with good coaching and training skills.
- Ability to work with others and communicate with multiple departments and all levels of management.
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple projects.
- Deadline conscious with strong drive, initiative and the ability to work well in time-sensitive situations.
- Ability to make presentations to large groups of owners, managers and/or guests.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in resort environment.
- Proficient in Springer Miller HOST and Spa Soft
